Hotel/Motel

If you rent a hotel, expect to pay an additional fee each time you bring a female back to your room. The fee can vary from R20 to R50 ( Brazilian dollar ) depending on the hotel. Why? Because that is life in Rio. I recommend apartments over hotels, but be cautious of the apartment rental service on the Internet. . I have heard horror stories.

Beware of people using your credit card numbers. I have heard some scammers use invisible ink. But I am not sure. I do know of travelers who have returned to the US and found out the were fraudulent charges made on their accounts. Some in excess of $15,000.I recommend cash transactions, if possible.

Restaurants- Gratuity.

Make sure you check your conta(bill) before leaving restaurant. To make sure you did not tip the restaurant twice.
